you're confusing object names and object themselves ;-)
both the parent and the icon are references (eg. instantiated
variables), not plain names. a possible rewrite of your snippet
could be:
$Test = new Win32::GUI::Icon("test.ico");
$TrayIcon = new Win32::GUI::NotifyIcon(
$Main,
-name => "Tray",
-icon => $Test,
);
