Hi,
I'm new to the list, so I will introduce myself.

I work as an electrical engineer at an avionics company in Redmond, WA. I
am a recent graduate of Western Washington University (last June). Most of
my friends are sysadmins and/or Perl programmers.

Most of my programming background is C, and 16bit assembly, with an emphasis
on programming for embedded systems. I have minimal experience in the MSVC++
programming environment. In fact, I have written 1 app. ever. I have even
less perl experience, but Oreilly seems to publish pretty decent books.

Now, on to my question...

My group has been creating small GUI apps to manipulate hex files, and text
log files, and other Win32 programs. We use the raw data to program
hardware, and we use the log files to get the results of the
test/programming.

Some of these programs are used in a production environment, and must run on
WinNT as an executable.

I have read a bit about using perl2exe to create executables, and I do have
access to this utility.

When I write my next GUI app, which language should I go with? Perl or C++?
It's going to be a learning experience either way.

I have access to many people that know and understand perl, but not
necessarily the Win32::GUI stuff. They are more focused on the Unix / Web /
Database applications.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Holland.
