Greetings,

we are running an overclocked Intel Core i7-3.3GHz box (for a specific
purpose). The BIOS shows the increased CPU frequency correctly, but after
booting OpenSolaris 06/09, psrinfo reports the original 3,3GHz. The same thing
happens with Linux, but not with Windows where the machine has been validated
to run stable.

We assume that both; Solaris and Linux, get the "right" CPU clock speed not
from the frequency multiplier in the BIOS, but from the ACPI frequency tables
for this CPU which are not affected by tweaking the "front side bus" multiplier.

Is this assumption correct, and how can we make the machine run with the
increased clock speed based on the frequency multiplier?

 thanks, Joachim
