The Performance community has a number of contributor and core contributor grants that are set to expire before the next OGB election. In a recent dicussion, the OGB observed that the Performance community is one of a number that are at risk for dissolution should all our grants expire before voting starts.
http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ogb-discuss/2009-January/006291.html With this in mind, I'd like to start the process of renewing the existing grants. This is also a good time to nominate individuals who have contributed to OpenSolaris performance, but haven't been recognized for their contribution. This is the current list of contributors and grant expiration dates. akolb Alexander Kolbasov Core Contributor 2009-02-24 andrei Andrei Dorofeev Core Contributor 2009-02-24 barts Bart Smaalders Core Contributor 2009-02-24 esaxe Eric C. Price Contributor 2009-02-24 The OGB governance page describes the procedure for adding and renewing contributors in detail. http://opensolaris.org/os/community/ogb/governance/ I'm paraphrasing the process, but for a renewal we need 3 +1 votes and no -1; however, if we're able to reach consensus another way, that should be sufficient. To add a new contributor or core contributor, the individual must be nominated, and the group must reach consensus. Either by 3 +1 votes and no -1 votes, or another pre-arranged process. In both cases, once the contributors have received the required number of votes, they must accept their nomination (or renewal) for it to take effect. I'm going to begin this process by voting in favor of renewing akolb, barts, esaxe, johansen, jjc, mpogue, and dp. If andrei or rmc are still interested in participating, I would support renewing their grants. I simply haven't seen any traffic from them on our lists lately. It's possible this is simply an oversight on my part, and if so I apologize. If you're a core contributor, I would appreciate it if you would vote. Please consider nominating other participants, too. Thanks, -j _______________________________________________ perf-discuss mailing list perf-discuss@opensolaris.org
