HI Bud, Thanks for the feedback. First to answer your question: > 1st of all, if you talk about NAS, what are you talking about? EMC Celera uses NFS
Now, I have a some follow up questions: - Based on your comments, would it be true to say that NAS offers no additional level of security than what OS-based NFS would offers? - What is the overhead associated with encrypting the NAS traffic ? and if there is a private gigabit network in place between NFS clients and server then would be it still necessary to encrypt the traffic? - You have stated that "From a performance standpoint, your private Gbit network is a good idea. You need to take care that you have the CPU power to move the traffic fast enough. If you have a small number of connections, your single thread CPU performance will be important." Is there a minimum CPU speed required for this? We use SunFire v490 for middle-tiers and SunFire 6900 and 20k for back-end. Do you see any issue with the CPU speed for these servers? - You have stated that "Important is that your Clients have to find that out fast enough and do a reconnect." If we are not using cluster for fail-over (we eventually will) then would there be any network settings that need to be tweaked so that the client finds the server quickly?
