We'd have to EOF support for Pentium-class CPU's pre-PPRO, but it's
about time to do that anyway. (The PPro has been out for just over
a decade now according to the timeline at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_microprocessors )
Making an MMX-capable Pentium Pro-class CPU (i.e. Pentium II, introduced
in May 1997) the minimum supported hardware for Solaris Nevada would make
a lot of sense to me.
the part that really limits the pain to moving to just a ppro class
cpu is the fact with new boot we allready limit our system support to
ones with 256MB of ram or more, most pre ppro machines maxed out at
128MB and even those were rare, so I don't think it will effect
anyone.
