THE FOUNDING OF AIMS
 
Sometime in July 1993, under his able leadership, a group of thirteen 
(13) dedicated Educators and Merchant Marine Officers activated and 
forged ahead their commitment in establishing an institute of higher 
learning, the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) .
 
Thus, on 16th of August 1993, AIMS was legally registered as a non-
stock educational institution, and was issued government 
accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to offer 
Customs Administration and Merchant Marine Courses.
 
AIMS is strategically located on Roxas Boulevard fronting Manila Bay. 
The campus with its training facilities housed at AIMS Tower was 
opened with a firm commitment to provide quality education and make a 
difference in the maritime education sector. In 1999, a new site at 
A. Arnaiz Ave. corner F. B. Harrison Street was inaugurated to greet 
the new millennium towards more intensive and comprehensive education 
and training.
 
To date, AIMS is one of the leading institute that provides relevant 
and adequate instruction and training services as manifested by its 
ISO 9001:2000 Certificate No. 34435, Quality Management System 
Certification from American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Quality 
Evaluations, Inc. conforming to STCW 95 Standards and National 
Requirements. 
 
 
Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) is one of the few Maritime 
School authorized / accredited by the Bureau of Immigration and 
Deportation (BID) to accept foreign students

Quality Management System 
In pursuit for Quality Maritime Education and Training (Q-MET), AIMS 
programs and other services are customer oriented under a Quality 
Management System Certified to ISO 9001:2000 Standard by the American 
Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Quality Evaluations, Inc
 
   
 
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 
All incoming students who wished to enroll shall take and pass the 
entrance examination given by the Center For Extension and Student 
Services (CESS).
 
  
ADMISSION REVIEW
 
The applicant shall accomplish the Admission Review Checklist (REG.1-
C). The process includes awareness of the Institute Quality Policy 
and Goals, Admission Requirements, Attendance Policy, Assessment 
Standards, Enforcement of Campus Discipline, etc. and the agreement 
of the applicant to undergo such processes and standards.
 
 
 
 
 
 
ENROLLMENT PROCESSES 
After reading the institute's Standard Policy and Agreeing  to be 
governed by the said policies and standards, the following Enrollment 
Processes shall be undertaken using REG.2C.
 
STEP 1 - Submission of Requirements
 
1.1 For High School Graduates 
a. Form l38 ( High School Card )
 
b. Two (2) pcs. 2 X 2 picture 
c. Certificate of good moral character from School of origin 
d. Application for registration to be secured from Registrar  (REG. 1-
C)  
  
1.2 For Transferees  
a. Honorable Dismissal (HD) as temporary entry credentials. 
b. Original Transcript of Records (TOR) or certified copy of summary 
grades from school of origin last attended. 
c. Certificate of good moral character from school of origin. 
d. Application for registration to be secured from Registrar. (REG. 1-
C) 
e. Two (2) pcs. 2X2 picture 
 
 
 
 
 
TUITION FEE PER UNIT for Academic Year 2004-2005 = Php 395.00
 
SCHOLARSHIPS AND DISCOUNTS (go to news for latest development) 
 
I ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP  
  A.  ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP 
  1. Honor Graduates — (Valedictorians and Salutatorians) 
Valedictorians and Salutatorians of graduating class of 100 or more 
students shall enjoy "full scholarship" for one semester, and "full 
tuition fee" discount for one semester respectively.  
2. 1st Honorable mention 50% tuition fee discount 
2nd Honorable mention  40% tuition fee discount 
3rd Honorable mention  30% tuition fee discount 
 
3. Scholarships and other discounts are granted to those who qualify 
based on results of entrance examination.  
 
B. RESIDENCE SCHOLARSHIP (Manual of Regulations for Private Schools)  
  1. Class A Honor listers whose average grade is 95% above with no 
grades lower than 93% shall enjoy full scholarship of one semester .  
2. Class B — Honor listers whose average grade is 91% to 94% with no 
grades lower than 89% shall enjoy free tuition for one semester. 
3 Class C — Honor listers whose average grade are 89% to 90% with no 
grades lower than 85% shall enjoy 50% tuition fee discounts.  
 
 
II NON-ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP  
  A. BROTHERS AND SISTERS 
Two or more brothers/sisters enrolled at the same time shall enjoy 
the following discounts:  
  1. For the second brother — 5% tuition fee discount .  
2. For the third brother — 5%tuition fee discount. 
3. For the fourth brother — 5% tuition fee discount .  
 
B. STUDENT SERVICES  
  1. Editor of the School Organ — 50% tuition fee discount.  
 
C. ROTC CADET OFFICERS  
  1. Corps Commander — full scholarship. No failing grade in any of 
the subjects enrolled.  
2. 1st Class Cadet Officers — 50% tuition fee discount  
3. 2nd Class Cadet Officers — 30% tuition fee discount.  
4. 3rd Class Cadet Officers — 20% tuition fee discount.  
5. 4th Class Cadet Officers — 10% tuition fee discount.  
 
D.  STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS  
  50% tuition fee discount ( during his academic year term only, with 
no failing marks ).  
E. MILITARY PERSONNEL IN ACTIVE SERVICE  
  30% tuition fee discount.  
F. WPA SCHOLARSHIPS  
 
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS 
 
Original and photocopies of the Notice of Acceptance (NOA) from the 
school containing a clear impression of the schoo1's official dry 
seal addressed to: The Registrar Visa division-Office of Consular 
Affairs.
 
Seven (7) copies of Original Personal History. Statement (PHS), duly 
accomplished and signed by the applicant in English and In national 
alphabet, accompanied by personal seal, if any, original left and 
right hand prints on PHS and original photos.
 
TOR / scholastic records (original and xerox copies), duly 
authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in the 
applicant's country of origin or legal resIdence.
 
A notarized Affidavit of Support and proof of adequate financial 
support to cover expenses of student's accommodation and subsistence, 
as well as school dues and other incidental expenses. 
 
Passport pages where name, photo, birthdate and birthplace appear.

STEP 5- NSTP-CWTS Registration   
STEP 6- Payment of fees   
STEP 7- Encoding I Approval

After having done all the 8 steps mentioned above the student is
