Hi Winfried,
Winfried via Pdns-users:
My two cents. Because crashes with dnsdist are really very unusual,
I wouldn't rule out hardware errors. Especially because we've had
that happen ourselves. In the end, bad memory was the cause of rare
crashes. So I would recommend rebooting the server a few times,
checking the management adapter for errors and running a memory
check. That isn't much effort and it saves tremendous amount of time
for everyone involved in case of a finding.
Tbh HW issues was also my first thought but
since we see these crashes on two servers running on separate hardware
I believe it is rather unlikely that separate hardware is failing
after upgrading to dnsdist 1.9.8.
Nonetheless I can not rule out hardware errors even if it is happening
on two separate hardware servers.
If crashes continue we will likely try a downgrade to 1.9.7 and see if
the crashes go away.
Thank you for your input.
best regards,
Christoph
