Our contractor setup two DNS servers each with internal and external ip . We would like to bind all requests to the private ip and VIP the public ip on the firewall to the internal private ip basically running all request from outside via the firewall .

Please can I get information on how to do it if possible and what commands to use.

The comprehensive documentation is a good place to start: https://docs.powerdns.com/

Your question isn't clear though, and I don't think you've really thought it through.

1. Are you talking about PowerDNS Recursor <https://docs.powerdns.com/recursor/settings.html> or PowerDNS Authoritative <https://docs.powerdns.com/authoritative/settings.html>?  Which version?

2. On the one hand you say that the DNS servers have both an internal and external IP, which suggests there are two interfaces.  But then you talk about a firewall, and the subject line says "NAT".

For binding interfaces, see options "local-address" (for listening for queries) and "query-local-address" (for packets sent outbound to other nameservers).

However, it sounds to me like this is actually a networking problem, i.e. how to configure NAT on your firewall to forward traffic to and/or from PowerDNS.  If so, I don't think it's relevant to the PowerDNS community.  You would be better off talking to your local network administrator instead.

Regards,

Brian.
