I've never tried it, but I don't see why not. The T/C does not pass the focusing cam through to the lens, so the lens won't focus. But the T/C should still focus. But you'll be limited in the "throw" of the focusing. That is, when going from subjects close up to ones far away (or the reverse) you may have to shift the focus of the main lens a little bit before the T/C can bring the subject into focus.
