The best place I can think of to view the night sky is smack in the middle of the King Ranch. A good fifty miles in all directions of no lights. Very dark. When I moved to Brownsville from Houston I almost drove off the road three times because I was trying to stargaze and drive!
I don't know if I'd cruise out there for the Leonids.
