My 2 cents on Pentax and digital.... It is worth seeing who is the target purchaser of digital SLR. So far, the bulk of the digital market seems to be satisfied through P&S models.
Of those willing to purchase at high cost or needing a DSLR for their work, I would assume that numbers tend to be higher among professional photographers, mainly in the photojournalistic and sports field. Of this target group, the overwhelming majority already uses Nikon/Canon, hence these companies have a 'sizeable' group of possible purchasers, willing and able to spend 3000$ and more on a 35mm format slr body. The question is, who, among the Pentax owners (PDML aside), is a DSLR going to satisfy if Pentax is not present in the same segment as Canon and Nikon? At the moment prices for a medium lever slr, are higher than any Pro-level film slr from the competition and of any body presently offered by Pentax. Indeed is any digital is to come out is for the professional Pentax users, ie 645. the digital slr pentax, may indeed have to be a lowerend version (as someone else mentioned on this thread)..... that's about it... ciao michele __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
