Yes Francis I have just learned myself that the 500ftz is not compatible with the LX but the 280T is compatible with both the PZs and LXs. Also I don't think the 500 has any more power than the 280T. In fact the older flash may even have a little more real power... You might be wise to look at the hammerheads by Metz or the pentax 900 kit which is still available for a small fortune.... Vic
