Wow. Pentax announces the Optio 330GS at Photokina. Isn't that great? I wonder why Pentax bothered sending anyone to Photokina at all, except to gawk wide-eyed at the offerings from Kodak, Canon, and Sigma.
Talk about losing face - those Pentax guys must be slinking home with bags over their heads about now. Did Photokina sneak up on them? Did someone at Pentax forget to mark their calendar? Or are we seeing the true Pentax colors for the coming decade? I'm just glad my FA* 600/4 works well with film, because apparently it's never gonna hook up to a Pentax DSLR. I wonder if I can get Sigma to change the KAF mount to a Sigma mount and keep autofocus? Let's see - Sigma SD-9 with Foveon sensor, a new Sigma 80-400 with image stabilization, an unlikely but true 100-300/2.8 zoom, and most incredibly a 300-800/5.6 zoom... now that's the sort of innovation I would like to see from Pentax. If it's any comfort - Nikon was just as absent at Photokina as Pentax.... looks like Kodak and Canon stole a march on Nikon for sure. -- John Mustarde www.photolin.com
