I missed the original post on this one, but here's my experience
from travelling to London last week.

There were no differences in security at Heathrow since July (PDML
UK).

At Oslo airport Gardermoen, they demanded all laptops out of
protective cases to be scanned separately, but otherwise no change.

Noone, neither at Heathrow or in Oslo, showed the slightest
interest in my photo gear.

I think the case with the laptops is caused by a seminar held
three weeks ago in US, where an airport security specialist
demonstrated how easy it is to modify modern laptops into devices
that can jam the airplane's communication systems.

I read about it in NewScientist two weeks ago.

Ironically, the specialist pointed out that the modifications
would go unnoticed by the scanning machines, and could hardly be
detected manually even by computer specialists.

Jostein.
