Buy one of those neat little film leader retrieval gizmos. Not very expensive. Bought mine from Jessops in the UK a few years back but I'm sure they're available all over the place. Someone on the list detailed how to make your own but I can't remember who. I'm sure it wasn't Cotty as it didn't involve coathangers and sticky-back plastic. (or did it...)
