hi, Jeff, As far as the 1.4 with the "yellow curse" goes, it's hard to tell how "usable" it is just by looking at it. I have one so afflicted, and it's ~very~ warm, so much so that I can really only use it for b&w (but I save on a yellow filter!<g>). It is great for b&w, though. I would think that you have to run a roll of colour through it to see how bad it is. Apparently some (even though they look yellow) are quite usable (if a bit warm). I don't think they're worth much more than $50 Cdn, without the curse. They are wonderfully sharp and fast lenses, but there are loads of 'em out there.
I would think that an SP, with cold-shoe, case and cursed lens should be had for $100 Cdn or so, assuming it to have a working an accurate meter, and assuming the shutter speeds to be more or less accurate. As a barometer, I think that places like Henry's are selling SP bodies with 2.0 55mm Super Tak for around $150 - at least they were last time I looked - and you know they ain't cheap! regards, frank Jeff wrote: > I've been offred a Spotmatic with a Pentax leather case, cold shoe adaptor > and the dreaded 50/1.4 SMC Takumar with the yellow desease. > How much does the yellow coating affect the final image? > How much would the kit in a 9 condition be valued at? > > Jeff. > - > This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
