I like the Italian way. A License Plate Wrap is kinda like the UK vinyl letter solution, but you can get one officially blessed by CA DMV. The problem is that they are the same size and shape as the metal license plate ... and there are few places to fit that on the front of the Fulvia models (pre-1968) that shipped without a front bumper. I've driven the car over 9000 miles on public roads in CA since 2022, and no policeperson has batted an eye at the lack of a front plate so far. I'll keep an eye out for a workable solution, but I don't think it's much of an issue.
