Thanks, Ann, but I'm so happy that (a) I've had an idea and (B) found
an object to realise it and (c) a good title that I didn't want to
give up yet.
Still, there was a technical prob: I could get a half decent photo
using my SMC-M 4/20 mm and a 12 mm extension ring on the K-3.
BUT... the DOF was minimal because the K-3 wouldn't stop down the lens
with the extension ring mounted. It did so with the lens only. The
ring has the lever to transfer the stop-down command from the camera
to the lens but the camera didn't want to move it. Could this be
because the extension ring doesn't have any contacts? Then again, the
SMC-M lenses don't either and there the stop down mechanism works,
albeit only without the extension ring.
Eventually, I had a look at the rear of the ring. Beautiful black
enamel on the surface that touches the camera's contacts. Could it
be...? Out with the dremel and away with the enamel...
Ha! It works now. :-)
