I love my Epson 2880 I’ve made hundreds, perhaps thousands of 18 x 12 prints on it over the 15 years I’ve owned it. It prints beautifully in color and BW, but as others here have noted, Epson has stopped producing ink for it, and the third party inks that are available are subpar. Prior to the 2880, I printed on Epson 1200, Epson 2000 and Epson 2400. They were all quite good for their time but none were as good as the 2880 and they didn’t last as long. ON the other hand, my 2880 still prints like new.
I guess I’m disapointed in Epson’s decision to stop supporting this printer, but I obviously got my money’s worth, so my negative feelings are subdued. But I’m not going to buy another Eppson. The company has left me high and dry with a printer that works but has no ink supply. Thus, I’m going to try a Canon. I always wanted to print bigger than the 12 x 18s I turn out on the Epson, and the Canon Prograf Pro-1100 prints up to 17 x 22 and has garnered rave reviews for print quality. Fortunately, I’ve had a good business year (busy—that's why I rarely post), so I ordered the Canon from Amazon where I get free shipping. Amazon is also great at accepting returns, so there’s little risk.
