But even then you could buy clock drives for them - even electric clock
drives.

Nice stuff - toys for boys! But how technology has progressed.
Eons ago I had a 6" reflector mounted on a heavy wooden tripod with a
manual equatorial mount. One had to slowly rotate a knob on the end of a
flex drive to keep the object of interest in view. Crude by comparison but
it worked.

I was doing some idle poking around on ebay, KEH etc. for some wishlist

The one thing that I'm actively looking for is an equatorial mount.
I'm planning on heading out to visit my sister and catch the total eclipse

I bought the Pro Pack. Used it with my Tokina 80-200 f/2.8 to photograph
the annular eclipse in October, and that's the setup I plan to use in April.
I searched the used market and didn't find anything that was as good a
value. My only complaint is the counter-weight is a bit light for longer
lenses ... I was afraid it wouldn't be sufficient for my 300/2.8.
... and NEVER gonna try to mount the 600/4 on it.
It seems that the two most recommended for work with a DSLR are that one
