Yesterday afternoon a friend posted to facebook that the local Goodwill had several “big telescopes”.
Long story short a Celestron 127EQ followed me home and my wallet was $27 lighter. https://photos.app.goo.gl/7UYbofECKNpLnG3e6 It’s rated at 1000mm f/8 because it has a 2x Barlow, otherwise it would be a 500/4. It doesn’t have an eyepiece, but I already owned a T-2 to K mount adapter, just in case a stray telescope ever followed me home, I wanted to be prepared. It’s also missing a counterweight, and a couple other minor bits. I tried a quick test on some of the neighbor’s trees, I’m not thrilled with the image quality, especially around the edges, it’s too cloudy to really do any tests at night. It also isn’t thrilled with having the weight of the K-3 hanging off of it, the 2-second delay is mandatory. My K-3 III is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and it’ll be interesting to see how it works. To complicate matters, a week from tomorrow my job is moving from San Jose to Riverside, and I’m going to be way too busy to do much of anything. But for under $30, I’m not going to complain. -- Larry Colen l...@red4est.com sent from ret4est -- %(real_name)s Pentax-Discuss Mail List To unsubscribe send an email to pdml-le...@pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
