I have used both the A 2X-S and the older T6-2X with several prime lenses, and I have found these TC's to be both very good (considering, of course, that a TC is always a compromise), and very difficult to tell apart optically. However, although I also have a Tokina AT-X 100-300/4 (a ~very~ good zoom, by the way), I have to confess that I have never used either of those TC's (or the A 1.4X-S, either) with that zoom. So, I can't provide a specific report for you, Erik, but I would suggest that either the A 2X-S or the T6-2X would probably work with the 100-300/4 as well as would any TC.
