That's because the Intel graphics isn't a proper GPU. Mac Minis don't have any real graphics acceleration. I have a Mac Mini (late 2012) and a MBP (mid 2012) both with a i7 at 2.3 GHz and 16 GB of RAM. The Mini has the usual Intel graphics and the MBP has the Intel graphics plus a built-in NVIDIA GForce GT650M. It runs circles around the Mini with things like creating thumbnails on import in Lightroom. Ralf -- Ralf R.
