Hi Glen, I have pretty much settled on HC:110 for the Jobo, and
Ilford ID-11 for inversion.
As a general purpose developer, you can't go wrong with either
of them.
I haven't tried X-Tol, though if Tom keeps raving on, I might
have to.
I did some pretty extensive testing with T-Max when it first hit
the market, and discovered that it works really well with T-Max
developer, but in ID-11 it does lose film speed, which may
account for the extra granularity that you are seeing.
One thing you have to remember, the manufacurers times are
starting points only. You need to determine your own film speed
and processing times according to your own working environment.
I suggest starting with the paper and moving backwards to the
film in order to dial things in.
