Back in "the good old days" there were these "Series" filters
and each size would have a two-piece holder. On one part of
this were threads to mount to the lens. These days a stepping
ring is often necessary to adapt these holders to more modern
thread sizes, but each filter could be used in the holder so
it was a pretty good system. Ya gotta locate a Series 9 holder
w/ threads (&/or rings) to fit your lens.

Alternately, just hold it up against the lens (using a tripod
        helps w/ this approach)
