I don't know much about mushrooms. My father was passionate about them, like many people of Slavic background, and harvested several varieties from the local woods. The best gift I ever gave him (other than a grandson) was a kit for growing one's own mushrooms in the basement.
I will try to go out tonight and see what the underside looks like. They were both growing on the base of a willow tree behind my storage shed, in the deep shade created by the shed and large trees. The multi-tiered one had shelves that were3 at least 6 inches wide, probably 7-9. Thanks for looking and commenting Ann. I was fascinated by the multi-tiered fungus, and was surprised that no one else seemed interested in it. I know the image is nothing special, but I thought the 'shroom was.
