>Why do you need to use the aperture ring with an FA lens mounted on a Z1p?
>Set the lens to "A" and use the aperture dial on the body.

There are 3 reasons that I do that:

1) I use DOF preview frequently and the mechanical DOF preview of Z-1p
doesn't work when the lens is set to 'A'.

2) Some lenses on Z-1p do not have precise aperture when the lenses are set
to 'A'. And this is one of them. And this can lead to exposure problem with
slides (though I haven't shot slides for quite some time). To the worst
case, when I needed it wide open to produce perfectly round out-of-focus
highlight (not just this lens), any slight stop down caused by the 'A'
setting could mean different bokeh (and this happens to my 77).

3) I have done photography for about 10 years and I am so used to the good
old aperture rings. I have found myself using the aperture ring a lot faster
and more natural. I have tried the hyper modes from time to time, but more
than often I have found myself spending too much time to alter the setting
when I needed it fast. But that's just me of course.

Alan Chan
