Dan, when I asked the photo.net honcho, Glenn Palmer (who may not be there anymore) that question, the answer was that the system was running on an IBM-PC in someone’s garage, with obsolete code that couldn’t be maintained or updated.
What I can’t forgive is their leaving many, many things broken, and not responding at all to messages and emails about them. In fact, on their forum they deleted many such messages.
