The AF is only noisy to the operator. If you're 10 feet away, normal
noise in a public place usually drowns out the focusing sound.
It's interesting. I haven't bought one yet, but I've been looking at
the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. All the reviews, and I mean all of them,
complain about how loud the focusing motor built into the lens is.
Doesn't matter the mount, doesn't matter the camera. It's just
described as noisy.
I finally had a chance to try one out, not the Pentax mount, but the
Nikon on a 3400. It was surprisingly quite after all the noise hype
I've read about. I think perception is more important than anything
else when describing the focusing sound of a lens.

Surprised the noisy AF didn't distract her?

Subject: PESO -- The girl in the IKEA coffee shop
Doing a bit of Christmas shopping at the local IKEA this woman caught my
eye.
I couldn't decided if she was looking at her companion in rapt attention
of thinking he was full of crap.
