There are digital backs for Hasselblad and Rollei MF cameras (at least) that use existing lenses. The thing about filters in front of the sensor is basically correct but Contax must use them, too. The lenses designed specifically for digital images have lower resolution - but it is not a good reason for bragging. All the best!
