Interesting article from Businessinsider.com on photographing marathons. At first I thought it was nothing more than yet another way to screw professional photographers by replacing them with "crowsourced" amateurs paid far less. But it seems that they guys who shoot marathons were already getting screwed: Losing copyright to their own images and being paid by the hour instead of on the basis of how many of their images sell (which is a fairly good measure of how good their photos are I've run a bunch of marathons and I can tell you a lot of the shots I was offered were crappy). Apparently some of the photogs who worked for the "official" photo companies are switching over to this new company because they make more money and retain copyright. -- Mark Roberts - Photography & Multimedia www.robertstech.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
