Phone cameras have pretty much displaced Bridge Cameras and P&S cameras.
I've even seen 8" tablets being used because the user thought the big
display thought it equaled "quality".

However when I was at Gillette's Castle a couple of days ago I saw a couple
of other DSLRs one looked like a D300, the other was too far away to
identify, but looked to be about the same size as a 70/80D or D90.

There weren't that many people there, but everyone else who probably would
have been using a P&S or Bridge a few years ago were taking pictures with
their phones.

Also given that most bridge cameras are designed to mimic DSLRs, thats
probably why you don't see a lot of DSLRs these days, you may not have been
seeing a lot of DSLRs before.

I've seen a few Bridge cameras - heck - I was given one as a present a while
back, and it does have certain uses. I even have a mobile phone with a
*fairly* decent camera, which gets occasional use, but I rarely leave the
house without a DSLR. I'm in the minority now. I appreciate there are many
options now, but for now and especially with a K1, a DSLR suits me fine for
everyday use.
