Man, what's it like you've living in the jungle, did you notice any Japanese holdouts while you were there?

Really the changes from the *ist-D series of cameras to the K20D was immense. The change, except in resolution, from that to the K-5II was almost as big. For you it will be like moving up from a go-cart to a Porsche 911, which of course wouldn't have made you a better driver either.

The biggest impact will be that you need more hard drive space to store your images, unless like me you don't upgrade your photo computer until you absolutely have to, in which case you'll have to upgrade that as well, trust me.

Larry is right you'll be amazed how bright and clear your crappy pictures can be, except that every, up to now, trifling defect in technique will will become glaringly obvious.
