There will be no fight.
I understand Godfrey's pride for the successful product that he has likely
contributed to. (I don't know for sure if that team was under his
management or not.) And I admire him for that.
I even suspect his statement was probably made with some doze of humor
in it. And I've probably overdone in the seriousness of my response.
An integral part of my work of the past ~ 25 years is challenging
statements (and ideas), including those of my close colleagues and
associates and even my own. (And that doesn't cast a shadow on the
person relations.) That's how *proper* science and, in part,
engineering is done, and I enjoy it and take pride in my work too.
And I enjoy the challenging work environment.
I know that some people outside of the scientific environment are not
used to such challenges and jump back when their statements are challenged.
So, if someone here gets (got) spooked by my challenging style, --
