i understand the feeling, and i sympathize with Knarf's complaint, but it's worth pointing out that Flickr is not as hard a silo as many other services

Flickr has a pretty good API, plus the website is full service (afaik, you can get anything done without an app); if a mobile site is sucky, i generally try another browser or just don't use it much on mobile (long live the desktop!)
