Thanks Rick (and all who looked/commented)! A healthy thunderstorm "breathes in" moist warm air and "exhales" cold dry air (rear flank downdraft).. If the intake exceeds the outflow, the storm grows. But if the inflow gets cut off (or ingests the cold dry air) then the storm goes "outflow dominant" and it is weakening/dying. This is outflow (probably strong RFD) hitting the ground and deflecting strongly in one direction.
