Thanks to everyone who looked/commented.  Feedback greatly appreciated.

There are lots similar towns in rural areas of Australia, often associated with abandoned railway systems. The rail goes and the town dies.

Lue hasn't exactly died - it still has a pub (next door to the Butcher etc store), a school, a pottery, a church and some hardy residents.
