I haven't shot film in over 10 years and don't intend to but I'm glad to
hear that some people are - great.
I'm more interested in the end result rather than the means to get there.

Thanks for all the replies.
It's been a very interesting time for me recently, looking through the
slides I took in pre-*ist D days. That came out in 2003 (I think), and
from
the article on digital v film in 2008, we had at that stage reached the
same
'quality of image' as film. So 7 years on in 2015, everyone should
consider
that film is of the past in every respect.
Not one of you said so.
I also have looked at images taken and enlarged made with DSLRs built
before
2010 and been mightily impressed. That, in great part is down to the
photographer of course, regardless of media.
Now for me, digital photography means I get to take the pictures as I
always
did, but now get I do the darkroom bit as well without the inconvenience
of
having lots of chemicals, equipment and a dark room. It also means I can
deal with exposure issues - but those who shot film and developed it
themselves could deal with that too.
I see cameras being launched with larger and larger sensors, to record
greater and greater detail, which therefore entails the use of better and
newer lenses to capture this greater detail, and it seems an arms race to
nowhere, as they still aren't 'better' than enlargements made from film
shot
with 30 year old glass. I just have this nagging feeling that I'm being
pushed to buy products which fill a need that doesn't exist.
Now for many people, especially professional photographers, digital
(DSLR/'Phone/CSC/whatever) is a way of taking the images and instantly
passing them on to press/Twitter/Facebook etc and immediate publication
has
become part of society's expectation of this technology. As a hobbyist
photographer, I can't help thinking that the K3 is - in real terms - as
good
as I need it to get digital image quality at this price point, with the
lenses I have (or are currently) available.
I don't feel film is in anyway dead, 12 years after the launch of a Pentax
digital camera, and if anything, I'm more tempted to find where I can buy
film and get a film body rather than join the digital arms race. The new
FF
camera is an LX.
Is more really better? Hmm.
