If you have LR create "smart" previews IIRC then you can edit even when the original file is not present. > > I also understand there are two ways to move the photos database to an > external drive so that Lightroom is aware of their existence: (1) access the > external drive from within Lightroom and then copy of the files within > Lightroom, (2) move the files to the external drive outside Lightroom then > having Lightroom “find the missing files.” > > Have I got the options right? I think you want to make a back-up copy first via drag-and-drop within OS-X. Then use LR to move your folders. Again IIRC, the "find missing files " doesn't work well across multiple folders. So you would have to go through the Find. . . process over and over. Try it with two or three folders first to see if I am correct. stan > > Thanks, > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Eric Weir > Decatur, GA USA > [email protected] > > "Our world is a human world." > > - Hilary Putnam > > > > > > > -- > PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List > [email protected] > http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net > to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow > the directions. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
