There are photos I saw when I did the image search that looked like they
were taken near where you were... gotta be Yellowstone but that
is the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone so....

Thanks, ann. I didn't ever think it was the Grand Canyon. Stated a couple times that I
didn't know, hence; "Mystery Canyon."
Too sloping, rounded and wooded. Not sharp, rugged and vertical enough for the
G.C..
I've been to the Snake River at various locations, but never in Idaho.
I'm leaning Yellowstone, especially with your encouragement.
Glad we settled that! haha

Oh - I didn't even realize Jack, that you thought it was the Grand
Canyon -- because of the geology as opposed to geometry :-) ) isn't
right either.. I think Yellowstone might be right.. But also, what about
the snake river in IDaho? The canyon walls definitely look like
volcanics - rim trees look like the Ponderosa
Googling images for "yellowstone river canyon" seem to confirm Yellowstone

I believe you're right, John. Among the images I had given the drugstore to
scan, was one I know was a smallish Yellowstone waterfall shot
(not the repeatedly seen Grand Canyon of Yellowstone falls). That may be in
Yellowstone. Been several years since last being in any part of
Yellowstone.

It's not the Grand Canyon. Too many trees down near the river & the
walls aren't steep enough.

Low res drug store scan done years ago.
Am finished mining my files for today.
"God light" somewhat a mystery. Suspect can't be defined against the sky.
