Thanks a bunch, Igor!

I had an absolutely wonderful time -- too good a time for a man my age. And, yes -- you're at least partly to blame for my landing at The Spotted Cat. The name was familiar as one of the many great (and terribly under-utilized) suggestions I got. I hope to get back there someday very soon and get a little more use out of my camera. As it happens, I started out at Bourbon St., figuring I'd get the obligatory shots out of the way first, and then make my way around town. Well, I was pretty much drunk within an hour and a half and decided, "I need to get the hell off this street. Where's Frenchmen?" By the time I wandered down there, taking pictures along the way, I figured it was best to pick a spot and just stay there -- which turned out to be The Spotted Cat.

There's just entirely too much to take in within the little time I had to do it. I hope to eventually go back for a whole week and actually stay somewhere within the city itself, rather than out in the exurbs. But, in the meantime, I've checked off one of the places I wanted to see and experience before I pass from the scene.

Walt,

I envy you! It sounds like you had great time in New Orleans!
And I guess I am to be blamed for pointing you toward The Spotted Cat.

I liked a bunch of photos.
There are some very interesting photos in that collection, I especially
enjoyed an interesting catch of yours: the view of the 2nd floor of the
house (with the hotel signboard).
4961 also looks very interesting.
4928 is full of character - I like it.
Well.. I'll stop here.

I think I recognized one of the bands at The Spotted Cat: the trombone
player looks familiar.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi all!

Got back last night and decided to go ahead and get started on the
photos from my little trip to New Orleans.

I didn't take as many as I'd intended, as I succumbed to the atmosphere
of the place and wound up spending the better part of my time in the
city at a jazz club called The Spotted Cat.

In any event, here's the set -- all taken on the K-5 with my F50/1.7 (as
usual).

I was pretty happy with the number of what I consider keepers -- a total
of 36.

Comments eagerly encouraged!
