Today I shot the family group photo that was the final impetus for my buying a K-3 several months sooner than I was going to. And it behaved itself very well, I'm happy to report.
We all trouped down to the local park where we had a backdrop of lightly snow-covered leaves and brush. Besides carrying my 42" softbox umbrella around (with two AF540's inside for extra oomph), the challenge was keeping Gryphon the family's new Golden Retriever puppy interested in looking at the camera. :-) I was concerned that the batteries in either the flashes or the K-3 would pooch out early because of the cold (-6C with a -12C windchill), but they all held up just fine for the whole shoot. When I got back home I did have to leave the K-3 in its baggie to warm up for about two hours to reach room temp. I think all the metal in it is to blame for that. The patriarch is happy with the proofs I sent him (his wife hasn't double-checked them yet), and the images looked good to me too, so I think we have an overall win. I do need to learn much more about directing a group though. I had the best luck with the dog as I had a loud squeeky toy in my pocket to attract his nose in my direction. I need such a toy for teenaged boys too. No PESO/GESO, yet. Maybe later. -- -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
