Thank, Bruce, Jack, Igor and Don!

The background is a bright blue plastic swimming pool that we use for
out dog. Alaskan Malamute do not enjoy swimming (after all, in the
Actic, getting wet usually means dieing). In the hot days of summer,
we fill the pool with cool water so he can splash around a bit and
cool off without going into the (human) pool. We also freeze water in
a blue kitty litter box (the largest container that will fit in the
freezer), and he loves to dig in the ice when it's hot out.

I had cleaned out the puppy pool and turned it upside down to dry in
the sun. When I went to take it into the shed in the early evening, I
noticed the mantis sunning himself and swaying slowly side to side.

In this image, the mantis looks reddish. That coloring comes largely
from the setting sun. To my eye, however, it looked mostly green, and
it looks more greenish is some of the other images I took that
evening.
