Pop Photo has tested the Rikenon in February 1984 issue - it seems to be OK in the

Raimo,

The phrase appeared in a passing mention of the lens in the magazine's long review of
the XR-M camera. Or maybe it was the XR-M review in Modern Photography.

I'm sorry to hear about the Rikenon's performance problems in the corners at 28 and
100mm. It seems that it's hard for a lens maker to escape such problems in a lens of
these specs. Maybe that's why Ricoh introduced such a similar lens with more modest
specs (28-105 f/3.5-4.5). Even the Vivitar Series One 28-105 f/2.8-3.8 is said to
vignette nearly two stops when wide open at 28mm. The Vivitar (Series One?) 28-90
f/2.8-3.5 and the Kiron 28-85 (f/2.8-f/3.5?) seem to receive more consistently high
marks.

There's a Kiron 28-105 f/3.2 to 4.5 on U.S. EBay at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1342735747 It's a PKA mount. But a
fixed aperture is more convenient for use with a manual-exposure camera like my KX.
