2.3 million people read the Journal, and 1.8 million read the Times. USA Today subscribers number 1.7 million. While print numbers are declining slightly, digital subscriptions are growing. Many millions more cherry pick their news from a variety of web sources. We may not be as literate a society as we once were, but we haven't devolved completely. There is still some reason for hope.
