I am not sure what you are disagreeing with, but nevermind. I did say, "For such a morbid brand, Pentax's continued existence is rather amazing."
I remember when people on this list said that they'd never use digital, they were all about film (when they thought Pentax would stick with film). I remember when most said they'd never use zooms they were all about primes (when they thought Pentax would not release new zooms). I remember when tons said that, after the first Pentax digital came out, the *stD?, and there was a l-o-n-g wait before another camera body, that maybe Pentax would never release another digital and that that was it. Or that, based on the slow autofocus of the *stD, Pentax couldn't compete with other camera companies. I remember when it was predicted that when Hoya bought it, the camera division would fold, etc., etc., etc. Then after a whole series of smaller, less serious Pentaxes came out they said that Pentax would not release another serious digital camera, that was it, then came the K-5. I changed brands for lenses that were not available at the time, I don't regret my switch, however I always liked Pentax camera bodies. My point was that despite all the whinging over the years, some by some fairly "famous" people on the list, Pentax is still here. Despite all the numerous warnings of its eminent demise, it still has its advocates, etc. They must be doing something right. Despite all the above. So I just find these sort of discussions amusing now. Is that what you were disagreeing with? Or it was the minority/majority thing? I think some people might be embarrassed now if they read some of their quotes from the past. However, you could be right, that I read some complaints as coming from the majority when they weren't. Anyway, because you generally stay away from technical discussions, frank, you are probably not one who would be embarrassed now. Marnie aka Doe :-) I'm probably just too old and remember too much and/or my memory is going. --------------------------- In a message dated 12/8/2012 9:11:24 A.M. With the greatest of respect I think you're mistaking the strident, loud complaints of a minority with majority opinion. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
