It's a good old name, that's why Ricoh bought it I suppose, hope it
wasn't a bad decision ;)

My investment in the brand is financial, I'm locked in for the moment,
no practical means of escape.

It's definitely not about brand for me, it's about financial resources
now. Pentax suited me in the past but I'm now more demanding of my
gear and the Pentax kit just doesn't make muster (and I'm not about to
hand them yet more cash to experiment with a K5 II which is
essentially 99.5% of the cameras that I already own).

I buy Pentax bodies because they fit my lenses otherwise I would be
buying something else.
