I loved SCTV and Bob&Doug and the stubby bottles of Molson's Canadian they had on the
show.

Please recall that their "show" was originally called "Canadian Corner" but they had
to change the name due to copyright infringement :)

The reason for the Bob & Doug phenomena of the early 80's up here in Canada was a
result of the Canadian Radio and Television Communications department (part of the
Canadian government) ruling that stated that a certain percentage of any show
made/produced in Canada, had to have some "Canadian Content". I'm not sure exactly
how much content, but it had to have some.

At the time SCTV was produced in Edmonton Alberta, so, as a result, there had to be
some Canadian content (because it was being shown on CBC - The Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation.. you know.. the same TV station that brought you "Hinterland's Who's
Who"... "The woodchuck is a terrestrial day active animal that hibernates in snowy
climbs.....")

Thinking way too much about SCTV now thanks to Aaron,
Dave
