It's not that hard as long as you've kept all the files that your site has currently in one spot :)
It's a matter of personal preference really. If the site is yours, and yours alone, and you don't care what it looks like, then you can just move what you want onto the new site via FTP. If the site's not yours, and you need to have it exactly as it is now, then you better have all the files or you'll have to download all the current files via FTP and then upload everything via FTP as Graywolf has suggested. Registering and setting up with the same provider offers some benefits: you always know and remember your password when it comes time to re-registering your domain and you usually get a bit of a break on the price (depending on the provider of course). Registering with Network Solutions (http://www.networksolutions.com) does offer you the benefit of "real" mail coming to you that states your domain etc. but it costs a lot more. There are numerous places where one can register a domain name, and, of course, some are less expensive than others. Some offer mail forwarding and linking to my current site. Others just register the chosen name. My ISP will register a domain, increase the size of my site, add a few perks, and charge me a lot more than it seems other places charge. How hard is it to move a web site? What do you suggest as a good way to get a domain name - register and set up a site with the same provider? With links? Or what? -- Shel Belinkoff mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://home.earthlink.net/~belinkoff/ http://home.earthlink.net/~belinkoff/darkroom-rentals/index.html - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
